Reading responses:

· How might Malchik and Loerzel respond to the following questions: How does where you live influence how you live? How is a neighborhood’s infrastructure (or, built environment) linked to its social capital? What are the threats to walking?

I would I think of how they would respond is that with the increase of expressways can change the feeling of a person, and that person’s emotions of both would be angry. They would explain the negatives of expressways by saying that it prevents people from doing basic things like walking in its nearby surroundings and disturbs them massively.

· How might Malchik and The School of Life narrator respond to the following question: How do we reclaim streets, blocks, and cities for walking?

Malchik would say that we should limit the spaces that were using. And that how highways are nothing but a waste of space, harming more than benefiting. To reclaim these areas would be massive awareness or protesting. To the point where politicians would be noticed. And perhaps negotiating.

· Walk to a walkable block in Chicago. What makes it walkable? How does its built environment exhibit (or not) the features of an “attractive city?” Document (e.g., photographs) these features.

One thing that makes it walkable is what the surrounding has. I walked to a block out of Lincoln Park and saw the residential homes. The residential homes while highly organized have tons of variety. Each one of them is different and unique and can catch people’s eyes to them.

So, for my plan that I said back at my previous week was to use a theme. And that was to take photos of signages. So, from a quote in The School of Life. (2015, January 26). How to make an attractive city, the narrator says that Order and Variety is the way for perfect urban planning. Which is the same with signages. Signages can be many unusual types of signs. Many have different purposes and meaning. The only thing is that where to find them. Because when we find some local restaurant or theater, we can see the flashy and stylish entrances with their signages, trying to wave at you that we want us to join their commercial area. So like buildings, signages must have these varieties .
