No people there
On October 3rd I went to Grant park, and this park surprised me because this is the only park I didn’t see any people. I saw some birds, a large open space, and some trees there.
When I was walking to the park I saw some temporary shed and some construction vehicles, which near the park, so I thought may be government or other organizations want to rebuild park.
As you can see on the map there is not only one park there and these parks and buildings are surround by tall building, which make these places become special and it also make people feel comfortable there, so the streets are very walkable.
According to Jacobs, what mistakes did urban planners of the 1950s make? Can you find such mistakes in Chicago?
After I read the article, I think Jacobs wants to tell us that the urban planners only believe the maps, but don’t believe their eyes. They thought depend on their plan they can make the City become better. However, Jacobs thought they just let more big businesses and more tall building appeared in the City and the planners forgot some historical, beautiful and meaningful parts in the city.
