O28 Orange Slice & 50RB Vivid Violet

Right before I began my walk I was met with a orange & purple sky.

Maps are diagrammatic descriptions of an area. Krygier & Wood define a map as prepositions. Maps show the viewer what a place is, what is there. There are many different types of maps that allow us to gain knowledge of our surroundings in different ways. Maps in defining a space also show an element of the humanness that is there. They show what is new in a place, but also the locations past lives. They show the human-made, the natural, and the in between. We make maps because as humans we love labeling and finding descriptions for our surrounding world; maps not only allow humans to do that, but they are also somewhat entertaining with the different information they can give us. Maps can also give the feeling that we hold a connection with a place itself.

A purple awning on the store Vosges Haut-Chocolat on West Armitage. The lights above the awning illuminated the spots that they lit; the light combined with the awning lightened the purple to match the swatch. The sound was polluted from the bar next to me. I could smell a sweetness that I assumed was from the chocolate shop.

An orange newspaper bag sits on a step outside an apartment on West Armitage and North Kenmore. The bag was wet and there were two on the ground. Sounds of cars passed by.

There are orange flowers on the side of the street on Kenmore. The street did not have a lot of light. The flowers are quite small and have four or five soft petals. I found them on a residential street so it was a much quieter surrounding than the other objects. It smells like wet dirt.

I found a second purple match. In the back of Jason Home on North Clyborne and North Kenmore Ave, there are flower pots. One of the flower pots had purple mums that matched my color swatch well. There were sounds of cars passing but overall the street was quiet. North Clyborne smells a little like trash, but I think all the flowers made the air smell cleaner. I couldn’t touch the flowers because they were behind a gate but they appeared to be flowers that would feel harder than normal ones.
