A map is a complex depiction of an area and the land that surrounds it. Krygier & Wood state that “Maps are propositions. Maps are propositions in graphic form”. They say that maps are propositions because you have choices looking at a map. You can infer a lot of things about an area by looking at a map. There are thousands of entries on each map that show parts of an area at a time. Maps have always and will continue to confirm the location of the area that it is depicting. A map is related to the world it depicts because once made, that map is now a representation for everything about that area. We make maps for reasons like showing how proposed projects will look, or to show what an area looks like. We have always made maps, and the reasons can change over time. Maps are able to show examples of places and other things that exist within a space. (163).

My two paint chips were red and blue. I wasn’t sure just how easy it would be to find things that matched these, but I started my walk. The first item I was able to match the color to was this sticker that was on the pole by the bus stop.

I saw a sign on the pole that I thought was similar enough to my blue, but it was not when I got closer. However, I noticed this stick that was there. The sticker itself is a pretty cool design and the blue matches well. I’m not exactly sure what everything means on the sticker, as there is a lot going on. Overall, the sticker is a very vivid item and is pretty easy to notice if you walk past it. When I was taking this picture, the CTA bus pulled up right next to me, so I felt like people were looking at me. It seems like this stop is used frequently because I walked back and forth and saw two different buses stop here. I looked across the street and saw a mother with her two kids and a business man walking by. The street is currently pretty busy, as it is currently 5:37 P.M. I’ve been noticing the leaves on the ground more and it reminds me that the season is changing.

The next match I made was with my red to one of the news paper boxes that are on the street. This situation seems normal but it ended up being pretty weird. One of the guys sitting outside the Starbucks had a certain innapropriate image drawn onto his face.

As I walked by I noticed it and it was a little diffiult to not stare. Him and his friends were also talking about it. The guy that had it on his face seemed to be joking around with the rest of the people. One kid that passed by must of stared at the guy because from behind me I heard “Yea keep staring I have a _____ on my head, so what”. The guy that walked passed me must have done it or thought it was him because he turned around about four times with a weird look on his face. This is not something I thought I would encounter when trying to match my colors. The temperature around me seems fine but it is a little humid which is annoying. The ground is a little wet so I am not getting a strong smell of anything. The top of this newspaper box was wet with droplets of water, and is smooth, rounded at the top.

The next thing that I noticed was actually a DePaul sign that has a very similar blue. As I am taking this pictureI feel as if people are staring at me.

I hear a number of people pass by as well as cars passing by the street. It is almost 6:00 P.M., so there are probably classes starting and ending soon, so the sidewalks will be more busy. I saw a couple other DePaul signs or things that I thought were good matches for the paint chip, but this sign ended up matching the best out of the other options. It is still pretty humid and a little warmer than before. After I took this picture, I kept looking at the DePaul emblem. I had obviously seen it before, but I never really looked at it and actually appreciated the simple design. The sign it self is relativity smooth, but there are spots that are dirty or chipped. I continued down Fullerton to see if there were other objects that I would be able to match up with the paint chips.

This was found outside the Whole Foods and it had “Revelation Brewing” written under it. The red in this Chicago flag is very simiar to the paint chip that I have. I feel very weird taking this picture because there are a lot of people in this area, and I am on my tip-toes to be able to see the picture that I’m taking. This area is very loud at it is pretty crowded, and I notice people walking in and out of the Whole Foods. It is currently 5:48 and I am starting to get a little tired. This area usualy has an excess amount of people and there is a crowd here now. As I’m thinking to myself, I hear a train get into the Fullerton station. I had to take this picture about four times because it was just out of sight. Also, there is a pretty bad glare because it is infront of white, so I was trying to get a picture where the color doesn't look different because of the light reflecting off of it.
