Reading Question:

What can Chicago do to prioritize spreading public art around the city? How can funding be supplied?

I believe that there could be more public art around Chicago. There are numerous amazing artists that live in Chicago and supporting minority artists could spread their message around the city. I believe that Chicago has a problem prioritizing things that they deem as important. For example, the acts to prevent homelessness is cruel in my opinion. These funding to avoid homelessness can be used towards shelters and ways to help these people instead of hurting. That’s why I believe that Chicago should be focusing on spreading public art because it creates a more comforting environment. I think the Chicago people can reach out to different artists to make sculptures around the city. The headless sculptures are a great example of art that can be implemented in the different parts of Chicago. I think it can be beneficial towards artists that are underrepresented. Finally I believe the city can add uniqueness and meaning towards the different areas that show different cultures.
