This one is a little bit like the “pro tip” to go visit the bund. Instead of going there from Nanjing road, where the crowd is, we’ll walk through a little neighbourhood north of it: HongKou, starting at the North Sichuan road metro stop.

The starting point: Sichuan North road metro stop.
Taking a left turn on KunShan road, leading us into a wonderful little neighbourhood.
Let’s enjoy the architectural heritage of Shanghai while we’re at it.
Now taking a right on Zhapu road.
Just from the architecture, one can feel we’re approaching the modern side of the city…
Our first view of Lujiazui, in the distance, with the famous “Broadway mansions” hotel on the left.
On our way to the Bund, we get a chance to admire a well-known architectural gem of Shanghai: Broadway mansions, completed in 1934 and at the time one of the first high rises in Asia.
Broadway Mansions, still standing tall today, the Garden bridge, and a part of Astor house on the right. This is hundred years of architectural history right then and there…
This bridge, called the “Garden Bridge”, was built in 1908, and found a new use today as a popular spot for wedding photos.
Finally, we’ve made it to the Bund, and can admire Lujiazui. Many others have made much better pictures than I am capable of…
