Walks around Shanghai: Yanqing road.

Yangqing road — crossing Huating road previously known as “Route Mayen” — is one of those historical little streets that is part of the former french concession. It runs parallel to Middle HuaiHai road, and connects the area surrounding the South Shanxi road metro stop with that surrounding the Shanghai Library stop.

It’s a street full of life — local shops, barbers, fruit stalls and restaurants. The number of buildings honored with a “heritage architecture” plaque from the city of Shanghai also hint at its rich history.

I usually like to walk through on my way home after having enjoyed some of Shanghai’s best burgers and milkshakes at Bistrot Burger.
