Note: If you are a wallet developer and looking to integrate WalletConnect, please use the latest version of our tooling — the Web3Wallet SDK. For more information, you can refer to our docs.

We are pleased to announce that WalletConnect Sign v2.0 has officially entered the production stage! This major and final milestone follows in the footsteps of the release candidate, which was launched just this summer. Since then, the team has been working closely with our integration partners to bring the WalletConnect Sign API to its final release.

What, then, does this mean for you?

If you are a wallet that currently uses WalletConnect Sign v1.0 (sometimes referred to as WalletConnect v1.0), we encourage you to begin the migration process immediately. We have kick-started the transition with many of our partner wallets, and a growing number of them are already live on v2.0. You can refer to the migration page in our docs for more details.

If you are an app that currently uses WalletConnect Sign v1.0, your migration will begin once wallets have moved to WalletConnect v2.0. This is because wallets can support both WalletConnect Sign v1.0 and v2.0 in parallel, and we want to ensure that a significant number of wallets arrive at this stage first in order to avoid any impact on the end user experience. You can already get ready by installing the new Web3Modal, which will offer an easy configuration change to switch from v1.0 to v2.0.

If you are a wallet that is currently exploring a WalletConnect integration, we strongly advise that you use WalletConnect v2.0 exclusively. Please refer to our docs for more details.

If you are an app that is currently exploring a WalletConnect integration, we recommend that you install the new Web3Modal for the smoothest experience possible. You can check out the Web3Modal GitHub and refer to our docs for more details.

We will be following up on this announcement with our migration schedule, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, we would like to thank all of our WalletConnect Sign v2.0 integration partners for their support along the way!
