How can we help crypto go mainstream? Wallet pet is a gamified wallet that will educate beginners and make it easy to start investing in crypto. We want to make the process of getting into crypto FUN and EASY.
Here’s a conversation I had with a friend recently.
Me: Have you heard of crypto?
Friend: Yes.
Me: Do you own some?
Friend: No.
Me: Do you want to buy some?
Friend: Yes but I’m not rich.
Me: You don’t need to be rich. You can buy for as little as $10.
Friend: Really? How do you buy it? How do I store it?
The conversation goes on but there’s alot of mystery around crypto. For most people, it’s very intimidating.
Myth 1: You need alot of money to get started in crypto.
Myth 2: You need to be a tech expert to get into crypto.
In Hong Kong, buying crypto is like buying drugs. You need to ask around for a friend with some bitcoin/eth and then meet them in some basement carpark to exchange.
We believe crypto is the future but unless even my mom and dad own some crypto and knows what ripple is, it’s not going to be mainstream. How do you go mainstream? GAMES!
If you show a random person off the street any existing wallets, the learning curve is steep. We conducted user tests and alot of people were asking basic questions like what is crypto currency? Let alone figuring out how to give someone your eth address.
There are also lots of misconceptions about cypto. We found that people thought you needed to buy 1 full bitcoin. At USD$9185 per coin as of this writing, it scares people away.
We’re solving this problem by turning the scary experience of buying your first crypto into a FUN and HAPPY experience.

Meet Cryptie-Our crypto cat
Ask any crypto junkie and they’re probably checking their holding prices a few times a day. It’s boring looking at charts. Cryptie will react to the prices of your crypto currency inside your wallet. Your eth dropped by 90%? Cryptie will be crying on the floor next to the bed. Cryptie feels your pain.
Game play — Room building
We took alot of inspiration from Post pets. For those that remember, post pets was a tamagotchi-like email client. When you got an email, it would arrive inside the pet’s room and you’d see the pet drag the mail out on the floor and open it.
Since we’re a games company, there’s alot we want to share about the game mechanics. So I’ll save that for a later post on the specifics of the game play. In a nutshell, the more crypto and educational quests you complete, the more furniture you get.
Wallet
To start with crypto, you’ll need a wallet to store your currency. I like talking about the game and education part so I’ll just be short on this section. It’ll support bitcoin, etc and erc20 tokens. Standard stuff.
Education
You can earn crypto in our app. All you need to do is complete educational quests guided by cryptie. From simple tasks like learning about airdrop means to sending and receiving crypto. Making it fun to learn about crypto.
