An in-depth guide outlining how to complete crosschain transactions between Cardano, Bitcoin, and EVM-compatible networks using the WanBridge web portal.

This guide will demonstrate three separate crosschain transactions:

  1. $USDC from Avalanche to Cardano using the WanBridge web portal with MetaMask
  2. $ADA from Cardano to Ethereum using the WanBridge web portal with Nami Wallet
  3. $BTC from Bitcoin to Cardano using the WanBridge web portal with any Bitcoin wallet

Crosschain transactions using the WanBridge web portal

$USDC cross-chain transaction from Avalanche to Cardano

Step 1: Make sure you have the appropriate wallets installed.

Before using the Cardano Bridge, you need to ensure that you have access to the correct wallet(s). You must have wallets for each network involved in the cross-chain transaction. MetaMask is the default option for any EVM-compatible blockchain network. Nami Wallet is a browser extension wallet that grants you access to the Cardano network.

Step 2: Visit https://bridge.wanchain.org/ and connect your wallet.

Click “Connect to Wallet”.

Click “MetaMask”.

If this is your first time using the WanBridge web portal, you will first need to give permission to connect your wallet. Follow the MetaMask prompts by clicking “Next” then “Connect” as instructed.

Step 3: Initiate a crosschain transaction to move your $USDC from Avalanche to Cardano.

Select “USDC” from the drop-down menu. Then, choose “Avalanche C-chain” and “Cardano” as your From and To networks, respectively. Finally, input your destination address in the “Recipient” field as well as the amount of $USDC you want to send crosschain. Click “Next”.

Confirm that the “Recipient” address does not belong to a centralised exchange then click “Confirm”.

Confirm that all the details are correct then click “Confirm”.

Confirm the transaction by clicking “Confirm” in the MetaMask pop-up window.

Step 4: Wait for your cross-chain transaction to complete. It is now processing.

While your cross — chain transaction is processing, the status will change three times:

  • Processing (1/2)
  • Processing (2/2)
  • Success

Note: The speed of the cross-chain transaction is entirely dependent on the networks involved. Transactions involving slower networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum may take several minutes or more to complete.

Step 5. Confirm the receipt of your funds. Your cross-chain transaction is complete!

Once your cross-chain transaction is complete, you’ll see your $USDC balance on Cardano, and the cross-chain transaction status change to “Success”.

Cross-chain transferring ADA from Cardano to Ethereum.

$ADA cross-chain transaction from Cardano to Ethereum

Step 1. Visit https://bridge.wanchain.org/ and connect your wallet.

To connect your Nami Wallet, first select “ADA” and “Cardano” as shown in the screenshots below.

You will see a Nami Wallet pop-up. Click “Access”.

Step 2: Initiate a cross-chain transaction to move your $ADA from Cardano to Ethereum.

Confirm that “ADA” is selected from the drop-down menu. Then, choose “Cardano” and “Ethereum” as your From and To networks, respectively. Finally, input your destination address in the “Recipient” field as well as the amount of $ADA you want to send cross-chain. Click “Next”.

Confirm that the “Recipient” address does not belong to a centralised exchange then click “Confirm”.

Confirm that all the details are correct then click “Confirm”.

Confirm the transaction by clicking “Sign” in the Nami Wallet pop-up window. You will be required to enter your wallet password to proceed.

Step 3: Wait for your cross-chain transaction to complete. It is now processing.

While your cross-chain transaction is processing, the status will change three times:

  • Processing (1/2)
  • Processing (2/2)
  • Success

Note: The speed of the cross-chain transaction is entirely dependent on the networks involved. Transactions involving slower networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum may take several minutes or more to complete.

Step 4. Confirm the receipt of your funds. Your cross-chain transaction is complete!

Once your cross-chain transaction is complete, you’ll see your $ADA balance on Ethereum, and the cross-chain transaction status change to “Success”.

Crosschain transferring BTC from Bitcoin to Cardano.

$BTC cross-chain transaction from Bitcoin to Cardano

Step 1: Initiate a cross-chain transaction to move your $BTC from Bitcoin to Cardano.

Select “BTC” from the drop-down menu. Then, choose “Bitcoin” and “Cardano” as your From and To networks, respectively. Finally, input your destination address in the “Recipient” field as well as the amount of $BTC you want to send crosschain. Click “Next”.

Confirm that the “Recipient” address does not belong to a centralised exchange then click “Confirm”.

Confirm that all the details are correct then click “Confirm”.

Step 2: Manually send your $BTC to the One-time Address.

Copy the One-time Address and manually transfer the listed amount of $BTC using the Bitcoin wallet of your choice. It is highly recommended to use a Bitcoin wallet that you own and control. Click “Confirm”.

Note: Be sure to send the correct amount of $BTC, as indicated. Send the entire amount as ONE transaction.

Read the warning and click “Confirm”.

Step 3: Wait for your cross-chain transaction to complete. It is now processing.

While your crosschain transaction is processing, the status will change three times:

  • Processing (1/2)
  • Processing (2/2)
  • Success

Note: The speed of the cross-chain transaction is entirely dependent on the networks involved. Transactions involving slower networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum may take several minutes or more to complete.

Step 4. Confirm the receipt of your funds. Your cross-chain transaction is complete!

Once your crosschain transaction is complete, you’ll see your $BTC balance on Cardano, and the cross-chain transaction status change to “Success”.
