An in-depth guide outlining how to stake WAN using XStake and Metamask.

XStake is an innovative, web-based platform designed to house a variety of infrastructure-supporting staking opportunities.

This guide will demonstreate four operations:

  1. Delegating WAN to a PoS Validator Node
  2. Unstaking a WAN delegation from a PoS Validator node
  3. Delegating WAN to a Bridge (Storeman) Node
  4. Unstaking a WAN delegation from a Birdge (Storeman) Node

Note: Staking WAN using XStake requires a suitable browser and web3 wallet, such as Chrome and Metamask.

Access XStake at: https://xstake.wanchain.org/.

1 — Delegating WAN to a PoS Validator Node

Step 1: Connect your wallet

Click “Connect Wallet”.

Click on “Metamask”.

If this is your first time using XStake, you will first need to give permission to connect your wallet. Follow the Metamask prompts by clicking “Next” then “Connect” as instructed.

Your wallet is now connected, as indicated in the top right corner.

Step 2: Initiate a WAN delegation to a PoS Validator Node

From the XStake homepage, click on “Delegate to PoS”.

Choose the PoS Validator Node you wish to delegate to. There are many to choose from. They can be sorted using the filters towards the right of the page. Ensure that the PoS Validator you wish to delegate to has available quota. Then, click on it.

Click on “Delegate”.

Input the amount you wish to delegate, then click “OK”. Keep in mind that the minimum quantity of WAN you can delegate is 100.

Click “Confirm” to confirm your delegation.

Click “Confirm” again on the MetaMask pop-up to confirm your transaction.

Your WAN has now been delegated. You can view your delegations near the bottom of the page under “My Delegation”.

Adding to your delegation can be done by clicking the “Top-up” button.

Enter an amount you wish to top-up. Then, click “OK” and confirm the details in the MetaMask pop-up.

Note: Rewards from POS Validator delegations accrue automatically in your wallet address each day.

2 — Unstaking a WAN delegation from a PoS Validator node

Step 1: Undelegating your WAN

Click on the “Undelegate” button.

The next screen will give you an indication of how long it will take to receive your WAN. This process takes approximately 3 days. Click “Confirm” to initiate the withdrawal.

Click “Confirm” again on the MetaMask pop-up to confirm your transaction. Once the three day wait is over, you’ll see your WAN back in your wallet address.

3 — Delegating WAN to a Bridge (Storeman) Node

Step 1: Connect your wallet

Click “Connect Wallet”.

Click on “Metamask”.

If this is your first time using XStake, you will first need to give permission to connect your wallet. Follow the Metamask prompts by clicking “Next” then “Connect” as instructed.

Your wallet is now connected, as indicated in the top right corner.

Step 2: Initiate a WAN delegation to a Bridge (Storeman) Node

From the XStake homepage, click on “Delegate to Bridge”.

Choose the Bridge (Storeman) Node you wish to delegate to. There are many to choose from. They can be sorted using the filters towards the right of the page. Ensure that the Bridge (Storeman) Node you wish to delegate to has available quota.

Claiming rewards can be done by clicking the “Claim” button.

When topping-up, enter an amount you wish to top-up. Then, click “OK” and confirm the details in the MetaMask pop-up.

When claiming rewards, simply click “Claim”.

4 — Unstaking a WAN delegation from a Birdge (Storeman) Node

Step 1: Undelegating your WAN

Click on the “Exit” button.

Click “Confirm” to initiate the withdrawal.

Note: The “Exit” button is only accessible from the 10th to the end of each month. Once you’ve clicked “Exit”, your WAN will unlock on the 10th of the following month. In other words, if you click “Exit” in July, your WAN will unlock on August 10th. Once unlocked, you will need to manually withdraw your WAN clicking the “Claim” button. In the period after you clicked “Exit” and before your WAN unlocks, you will continue earning daily delegation rewards so long as the Bridge Node you’ve delegated to is operating normally.

Click “Confirm” again on the MetaMask pop-up to confirm your transaction.
