Welcome to the very first issue of our newsletter about travel and world cultures.

You may not know us, but we have powerful friends.

Here they are.

The Brilliant Comrade remains speechless before Wanderlost and orders to raze it by fire.

Now that we have your trust, let us introduce ourselves.

For the best part of our time, we struggle to complete Wanderlost, a travel blogging social platform. Or at least that’s what we say to persuade investors.

When we’re not working on Wanderlost, we travel and gather information about things that happen in the world around us.

This newsletter features a selection of some of the best contents found on the internet: stories, guides, photo galleries, useful links and travel tips.

If you wish to receive our newsletter, sign up here. Otherwise, you can as well follow us on Medium.

In the mean time, why don’t you take a quick look at our pilot episode?

General Carrera Lake, Patagonia.

SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE

Never stop exploring: The outdoor-entusiast and philantropist Douglas Tompkins is the founder of The North Face. In 1969 he sold his share of the company, and later bought and conserved over 2 million acres of land in Patagonia. Tompkins died on December 8, 2015 while kayaking on General Carrera Lake, southern Chile.

This blog features a whole collection of world maps that do not show New Zealand. Funny, isn’t it?

A Line Across the Sky — Explore the first ascent of the Cerro Fitz Roy traverse, Patagonia, by American climbers Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold. No cameramen involved!

EAST

Let it snow! Istanbul on New Year’s eve.

The works of master Horiyoshi III: a great insight into Japan’s criptic tattoo culture by BBC.

If you love traveling by train as much as we do, here’s some big news for you. China and Thailand have reached an agreement to establish three rail routes called the “Pan-Asia Railway Network”, with Bangkok serving as the hub.

With camel racing and a dancing shaman, it’s unlike any winter games most of us are accustomed to. Welcome to Mongolia.

TECHNOLOGY

If you can’t stand feeling numb and jet-lagged after a long flight, the new Airbus A350 XWB might be the solution to your problem (though we believe that sipping brandy shortly before take-off helps as well).

Leave that selfie-stick at home, please.

NEW YORK

With a plethora of Starbucks, McDonald’s and other places offering free Wi-Fi, New York has always been a sort of mecca for people who wish to stay connected on-the-go. From now on, things are gonna be even easier: LinkNYC is going to install a network of more than 7500 hubs offering high-speed Wi-Fi and USB charging ports, replacing pre-existing phone booths.

NYC travel guide by Vice (with plenty of nightlife tips).

Grew tired of the Knicks’ appalling performances at the Madison Square Garden? Why don’t you just drop by Rucker Park in Harlem, the most legendary streetball court in the US.

And if you happen to be in NYC during the weekend, make sure you pay a visit to Smorgasburg flea food market!

We hope you enjoyed this freshly-baked first issue of our newsletter, see you next week!
