Nashville, TN is an eclectic city with old southern charm, country music foundation and history, as well as a place with cool stuff to do; great bars and food and of course music in all directions for the non-country music lover. There is so much to do in this vibrant city in the south so #starttrippin to Nashville, Tennessee!

Great Roadtrip From:

  • Southern Missouri
  • Arkansas
  • The Carolina’s
  • Mississippi
  • Alabama
  • Kentucky
  • & only 3 hours from Atlanta!

What to do in Nashville:

For the History Buff…

  • Bellmont Mansion — This Italian villa built in 1853 was once Woman- run in the late 1800’s, quite a fete for the time period. The mansion boasts a rich history, and is perfect for anyone interested in Civil War history, architecture and general Nashville history.
  • Fort Nashborough — On January 1, 1780, James Robertson founded Nashville when he led his group of pioneers across the frozen Cumberland river to a place called The Cedar Bluffs. These men built a fort here called Nashborough, which would shelter the first families until conflict with Native Americans subsided in 1792 (source)

For the Foodie…

  • Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack. They’ve been in the game for over 70 years serving chicken. So, yeah. Go there.
  • What Cracker Barrel wishes it was, visit The Loveless Cafe for serious biscuits and gravy along with other southern comforts that will fill you up and make you want to look for property in Nashville.
  • The cactus chorizo tacos from Mas Tacos Por Favor. I know….Cactus. Just trust us.
  • This is a mix for a foodie and history buff and those who just like really cool shit. Visit Black Abbey Brewing Company located in Fellowship Hall. Several varieties of crafted beer and join a tour while you are there.
  • Speaking of drinking, don’t visit Tennessee without trying a good bourbon. There are many distilleries in the area to choose from, but you may benefit from a tour of multiple ones through Tennessee Whiskey Tours.

For the Music Lover…

  • Don’t trip while on your roadtrip to Nashville. You can say you don’t listen to country but there is no way you can visit Nashville and not go to the Grand Ole Opry. There’s just not a world where that doesn’t happen. The history and stories of the place alone are reason enough to stop by. If you appreciate music of any kind, you have to put this on your list.
  • And if you are really into country music, there are tons of other museums and cool places to visit like the Johnny Cash museum, Loretta Lynn, RCA Studio B and more.
  • Let loose the producer in you and comb through the vinyl at Grimey’s New & Preloved Music
  • We also suggest downloading the free live music app from Music City to find out who’s playing while you’re in town.

For the Adventurer…

There is sh%t ton to do for the adventurous, outdoorsy type in Nashville, along with tons of places to rent everything you need to have the time of your life. Suggestions to check out are:

  • Kayak or paddleboard the Skyline. There are lots of tours for this.
  • Try a bicycle tour of the city.
  • Head over to the Centennial Park for more activities and check out this interactive map of the greenways in Nashville.
  • If you’re partial to hiking, there are great hiking trails not too far outside of Nashville as well. Rock Island State Park has Twin Falls (level 3). Bring a waterproof camera for stunning photos. Thank me later.

For the Wanderer…

  • Marathon Village — Stroll through for unique art, food, vendors and the like. Great use of old space.
  • Cheekwood Estates & Gardens — A beautiful walk through the gardens is good for any soul. This wondrous estate also hosts large art exhibitions, a mansion and lots of places to wander and explore.
