Finally made up your mind for Sri Lanka ? The beautiful country has untouched beaches, coffee/tea plantations, hill stations,wild life reserves and ancient villages.

We personally feel, 7 days is not enough to cover all the places in Sri Lanka. In our this itinerary we would try to give you the best of it.

Although, Sri lanka has a visa on arrival we would still suggest you to apply for visa before your trip. The visa could be applied online on the below website:

Below is our Itinerary:

Day 1: Dambulla caves

Land to colombo, Head to Dambulla first. There are multiple options to visit Dambulla, you can take a taxi would be taking from 3–3.5 hours (Cost will be around LKR 9,000) , Take a bus (187 or E03) from the airport to Katunayake Bus Station. Change to a bus to Kurunegala and finally change to a bus to Dambulla.(Cost maybe LKR 350–400).

After Check in to your hotel, you can visit the Dambulla caves also know as the Golden Temple is the most impressive cave temple in Asia, having five caves under a vast overhanging rock, carved with a drip line to keep the interiors dry. Hidden amongst the caves, there are 48 statues of the Buddha dating from the 12th Century. you can also take wildlife safari there or elephant ride.

Day 2: Sigiriya

Closer to Dambulla is Sigiriya, Start your day early and visit Sigiriya Rock. It is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla. Referred by locals as the 8th wonder of the world. The view astonishes the visitors with the unique harmony between the nature and human imagination.

Royal palace in Polonnaruwa, many things to see in this palace. must see is the sacred quadrangle having ‘Vatadage,’ an elevated circular structure housing four Buddhas facing in each direction.

Head back to sigiriya for the Lion rock (opens till 5PM) or you can visit next day while going to Kandy.

Day 3: Kandy

Leave for Kandywhich is around 90km from sigiriya.

After checking in to your hotel, Leave for pinnawala elephant orphanage, a must visit in Sri lanka. It is established to take care of the abandoned elephants, the orphanage is one of its kind. The timings are from 8:30 AM to 6 PM.

In the evening you can visit the Temple of the Tooth(Buddhist temple), Kandy Lake and & the great Kandyan bazaar. (Can be done the next day morning).

Day 4: Kandy, Nuwara eliya

Explore Kandy, Visit the Kandy batonical gardens, Upper Lake Drive, Market Square.

Leave from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (Little England of Sri Lanka). You can take a brief stopover in the Tea Country & beneath your eyes you’ll see tea plantations and small speckled white tea factories. the journey from Kandy to Nuwara eliya would be around 2.5 hours make sure you leave from Kandy on time.

Reach Nuwara eliya by evening. Take rest in Hotel.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya, Yala

Start early in the morning, you can visit Seethaeliya, the place where Seetha was believed to be held by Ravana as per Hindu mythology. Leave for Yala National Park (around 5 hours drive) and get ready to see some exotic flora and fauna. More than 200 bird species and wildlife species could be seen in this national park. Night stay in Yala.

Day 6: Bentota

Leave from Yala in the morning for Bentota (around 5 hours) Check in to your hotel. Enjoy some water sports on the bentota beach, whale and dolphin watching or skuba diving.

Day 7: Colombo

Leave for colombo, the capital of Sri lanka. the heritage of Portuguese, dutch and british could be seen in the architecture. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history. You can visit the Gangaramaya temple,Viharamahadevi Park are some of the major attractions in Colombo. We suggest you to take a city tour to get the feel of the city.
