Lots of young companies take a swing at the marketing space, but only a select few gain traction or achieve disruption. CIX has chosen four marketing startups for its 2016 Top 20, so let’s see what it takes to be considered one of the most innovative marketing companies in the country.

Repable provides analytics & insights for the competitive gaming and streaming industries. This means helping brands, teams, and players understand the impact of what’s happening in one of the dynamic digital spaces ever. (For example, If you’ve never heard of Twitch, just ask the person to your right or left.)

Founded by Heather Anne Clarkson and Sean Power, Repable makes the data around e-sports and viral personalities visible, and therefore actionable.

SweetIQ may well have cracked the code to leveraging local search. This startup’s dashboard shows you how your brick-and-mortar store is represented in the digital world: not just search-engine rankings, but also online reviews.

Founded by Mohannad El-Barachi and Michael Mire, SweetIQ promises to turn online searches into in-person sales.

Exact Media takes insert marketing to the next level. By working directly with retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, and Hudson’s Bay, Exact helps brands get their samples in front of potential customers whose order patterns suggest a good match.

Tinder for free samples? Maybe. Slapping junk mail in the face? Definitely. Since samples are packed in orders placed by the target audience, the open rate is 100%. Exact was founded by Ray Cao and Daniel Rodic.

Unata is changing how grocery stores relate to and engage with their customers, unifying the online and in-store experiences. From loyalty cards and rewards to gamified shopping behavior, Unata helps grocery stores move beyond the printed circular and clunky pdf, handling everything from design to implementation.

Customers enjoy a seamless shopping experience, while grocery stores are able to create personalized campaigns to boost loyalty and repeat purchasing. Founded in 2011 by Chris Bryson, Unata works with grocery giants like Raley’s and Lowe’s.
