Four Washington Schools Honored as National Blue Ribbon Schools

Congratulations to the four Washington schools selected as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2019!

The National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.

“Our focus has always been on ALL students,” said Ryne Phillips, Principal at Hilton Elementary School in Zillah, one of the honorees. “We really pride ourselves on building and maintaining positive relationships with our students knowing that this can lead to a strong schoolwide culture of success and learning.”

Hilton was recognized as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School.

“Never lose sight of your mission and vision,” said Principal Phillips, when asked for advice on how schools and districts focused on closing gaps. “Allow teachers and teams the flexibility to create goals within the mission and vision. One of the things that really has strengthened our school is creating a school culture that is built on trust, transparency, and accountability.”
