About the blog
First of all, we would like to thank everyone that has come to visit our blog.
We set up this blog to raise awareness among other students in our country and abroad about health related topics in the North-African & Middle-Eastern region. Health associated topics like malnutrition, mental health and re-emerging diseases in the context of war and conflict in the aforementioned region will be discussed.
We will try to give a clear overview on how this overarching theme of health related to war and conflict impacts the behaviour of communicable and non-communicable disease. The impact of these two types of diseases and their relation to each other are often called the “double burden of disease”. This concept is fundamental for this blog and will be discussed extensively.
The different topics that will be touched upon are:
- The silent health crisis in MENA-region
- Triple burden of maternal and child health in refugee camps
- Malnutrition
- Mental Health: depression, PTSD and the triple burden of disease
Again, thank you for your time and effort as we hope to raise more awareness for some straining health related problems in the North-African & Middle-Eastern region.
