When the war in Ukraine began in 2014, there were more questions than answers? Who was to blame? Was the breaking away of Luhansk, Donetsk and other regional capitals all part of a Russian plan? Or were local rebels truly behind the split?

This week on War College, we speak with Antony Butts, a journalist and documentary filmmaker who spent weeks in Ukraine’s separatist regions. Butts was in Donetsk during the worst of the fighting.
