UPD 05/27/2023 : New facts confirm FB’s lenience towards the aggressor. See at the end of the article.

Something strange happened this spring with FB. I am an ordinary long-term user of FB, I do not abuse social networks for outrageous statements or PR campaigns, etc.

But this spring, FB blocked two of my posts: the first — from April 4 and the second — from May 7, 2023.

These two posts are united by the fact that they are satirical or sarcastic and directed against putin and his accomplice prilepin.

Against the background of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense and the issuance of an arrest warrant for putin by the International Criminal Court , as well as prilepin’s direct public calls to kill Ukrainians, the blocking of my restrained satirical posts by FB looks like a clear prejudice against the Ukrainian point of view on the FB columns.

I don’t have any reliable information to explain the reasons or criteria by which FB was guided. Just as there is no explanation from FB of its actions against my posts. Therefore, not having any counterarguments, I reserve the right to my own well-founded assumption about the influence of rf’s representatives on the blocking of anti-putin / anti-russian posts in the context of a full-scale war unleashed by putin and russia against Ukraine.

First photo is from After ‘Special Military Operation’: Deputinization and Decolonization | by PURE EVIL | Apr, 2023 | Medium . The second photo is a reaction to my repost on FB — After ‘Special Military Operation’:… — Olegh Bondarenko | April 4, 2023 | Facebook . The third photo — FB blocks my post about prilepin.

FB’s comment on blocking my first post is simply funny: “ False information. The same information from another post was verified by independent fact-checkers. ” That is, FB classified satire as false information.

The second post was blocked altogether without explanation.

Conclusion

The conclusion is very simple.

In my opinion, blocking satire against putin’s regime has nothing to do with, or, more simply, directly contradicts freedom of expression. Such a blocking of satire is not justified by the supposed curbing of hate speech in public space.

Conversely, blocking anti-putin statements made in compliance with ethical standards can be seen as playing along with the aggressor.

There is something to think about…

Shortly after my publication, I came across material that reinforces my observations and conclusions regarding the role of FB in the unrestricted growth of the network of fans of “ruzzki world” all over the world. Read about this in the article “International Fringe Association. How Russian Propaganda Works Through Facebook Around the World” — Texty.org.ua.
