Released in August 2015 by Plarium VIKINGS: War of Clans is set in a Viking town and is a base-building and resource-gathering as well as troop-manufacturing MMORPG-type game. VIKINGS: War of Clans is available on both Android and iOS, with very clean graphics and fluid motion it makes for an entertaining experience for the average gamer. VIKINGS: War of Clans offers much of what you would expect from a MMORPG, tech tree advancement, a vast array of troops and weapons to choose from as well as the usual Player vs Player options. The UI is very simple and easy to navigate around.

So essentially the plot-line of VIKINGS: War of Clans is you are a Viking Warrior named ‘Jarl’ and your primary objective is to create a Viking tribal town also you are require to fulfil obligations such as managing resources and building a powerful army etc. And basically, to cut a long story short the player with the biggest army within that clan wins or whoever captures the place of power first, a unique location dedicated to each individual kingdom. Its fair to say the lion share of time will be spent just developing your town and creating infrastructure from which to initiate resource production, building troops and technology gathering.

The UI is very simple and easy to navigate around.

If you’re looking to go into great depth with advancement of your civilization and a taste for combat, then you’ll love Vikings. You can choose several was to progress throughout the game and if your prepared to be patient you’ll reap the benefits. Visually, VIKINGS: War of Clans has first class graphics and has the option of turning on special FX to environmental and magical effects which is unique to a browser-type game. A generous amount of work has been put into attention to detail which makes it pleasing to its intended audience. A gaming community has been set up that is very helpful to the user with regular events that reward those involved with tasks and various quests.

A tutorial is available at the start of the game to help first-time users and those who just want to refresh their memory, speaking of first-time users there are a few tips that I will include here that will come in handy:

· Consider joining an older Kingdom when you are new, after level 6 the player is no longer permitted to move. Its also a great way to gather more resources from more established players.

VIKINGS is based on resource-gathering and therefore makes it significantly easier to obtain them if you work as a team.

· Whatever Kingdom you are currently in, consider going into one of the top Clans. A rule of thumb is to join the Clan(s) that holds the ‘pup’ as it is highly likely they will have the strongest fighters. They are also more likely to have the best allies as well as attracting the more experienced players.

· The next piece of advice I would give for a player just starting out is ensure you establish Hyper Max System with a bank. This is very important in the context of the game because VIKINGS is based on resource-gathering and therefore makes it significantly easier to obtain them if you work as a team.

· What is the first piece of infrastructure you should build when starting out? Building a Palace first and foremost is very important as this will improve the amount of help you can receive.

· If you want to build a big Army, its important to build Manors as they will allow you to build infrastructure much faster, alternatively if you decide you’re going to have a small Army its probably better to concentrate on building Infirmaries as this way you can hold your entire Army in that event of attack.

Building a Palace first and foremost is very important as this will improve the amount of help you can receive.

· General rule of thumb is, if you plan on being aggressive and attacking other clans often then you should build plenty of Manors. Building lots of Manors is also a great way to create silver.

· The next consideration you should think about is your troops, what is your involvement scale going to be? Are you going to be aggressive or just quietly build your Kingdom? T1 troops are your best bet if you’re not looking to spend a great deal of cash, only launch T1 sieges its a smart way to retain your resources without compromising your influence. Alternatively, if you decide you want a large Army its probably best to utilize the T force troops as this will increase not only the offense but also the defense of those troops.

· If you’ve decided that you are going to adopt a aggressive stance its a good idea to first build ‘Cavalry’ and ‘Melee’ In contrast, if you decide on adopting a more defensive stance you should build up ‘rage’ and ‘siege’.

· For those wanting to build influence as quickly as possible it is perhaps wise to get ‘Melee’ the main cost for ‘Melee’ is food. For any further influence you may want to achieve it is recommended to build T4 troops.

· Another question often asked is, ‘Which knowledge should I go for first?’ short answer is it is entirely up to the individual and what they want to achieve within the game. That being said ‘Training’ and ‘Economics’ are the more important ones. As was covered previously if you are planning on adopting an aggressive stance ‘Military’ is very important, you will need to obtain the T4 troops in order to unlock T4 troops you will need a 10 on offense and a 10 on defense.

· Finally, remember that knowledge is more important than troops. I say this because the most important armour in VIKINGS: War of Clans is knowledge armour. It is vital to complete your knowledge tree much more quickly.

My final thoughts on VIKINGS: War of Clans is like many base-building MMORPG-type games before it, you will need to invest a significant amount of time to advance in terms of tech and resource. As I said previously this game is very easy to play and well formatted. One slight drawback is the lack of actual battle action, you assemble your troops send them off to battle but you never actually get to witness the battle. Regardless, the animation and fluid graphics more than makes up for it. Are you brave enough to play VIKINGS: War of Clans?
