In moves surprising to absolutely no one, Finland and Sweden formally announced their intentions to join NATO. Summarizing the viewpoints of both the Finns and the Swedes, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said, “it is clear that the military non-alignment has served Sweden well, but our conclusion is that it won’t serve us as well in the future.”
