The special will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and affiliate portals.

J. COLE: 4 YOUR EYEZ ONLY, A DREAMVILLE FILM showcases songs from his fourth album, as well as revealing footage containing the heartfelt confessions, concerns and struggles of people in the South. Traveling through different cities gathering interviews, Cole reveals the challenges lower-income residents face trying to obtain viable housing, as well as the frustration for felons of being barred from voting.

Providing a platform for subjects who feel their stories have not been heard, Cole captures these stories in Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Ferguson, Mo., Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville, NC and his father’s hometown of Jonesboro, Ark., where he focuses on how this small town so closely resembles the rest of the country in its struggles with integration.

“4 Your Eyez Only” was released in Dec. 2016 by Dreamville, and distributed by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and Interscope Records, debuting at number one and selling 492,000 units its first week. The New York Times hailed it as “one of the year’s most finely drawn [albums],” going on to call Cole “a rap star without rap-star trappings, a parallel-universe champion.”

Hailed as one of today’s best lyricists, J. Cole debuted in 2007 with his mixtape “The Come Up,” followed by a second mixtape, “The Warm Up (2009).” He attracted widespread attention for his appearance on “A Star Is Born,” from Jay-Z’s album “The Blueprint 3.” Released in Dec. 2014, his third album, “2014 Forest Hills Drive” was the first rap record in 25 years to go platinum without featured guests. His first HBO special, “J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming,” debuted in Jan. 2016.

The executive producers of J. COLE: 4 YOUR EYEZ ONLY, A DREAMVILLE FILM are Jermaine Cole, Ibrahim Hamad, Adam Roy Rodney; producer, Tim Grant; co-directors, J. Cole and Scott Lazer.
