WILLIAMSBURG, NY, Sept. 13, 2016 — VICE NEWS TONIGHT, the upcoming half-hour nightly newscast from VICE Media and HBO, debuts MONDAY, OCT. 10 at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT), and will air weeknights on HBO (please note the updated debut date). The show will also be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and affiliate portals.

Under the leadership of Josh Tyrangiel, Executive Vice President Content, News, VICE NEWS TONIGHT seeks to make an indispensable nightly news show.

“We think a news show can play a big role in viewers’ daily lives, but it has to be on their terms,” says Tyrangiel. “We’ve tried to think about our audience with every choice we’ve made — from the kinds of stories we cover and the format in which we present them, to the platform on which they’ll be watching and how touch-enabled screens can enrich our storytelling. We really believe there’s room for a modern, flexible-format show that helps our audience understand the world. And we can’t wait to debut.”

Adapting to the world we live in today, VICE NEWS TONIGHT will replace the format of anchor behind news desk for a reimagined and wide-ranging toolkit of formats and storytelling capabilities that seek to resonate with an increasingly social and mobile audience, aiming to offer the first modern news show. Specific packages from each episode will be made available on HBO NOW, HBO GO and HBO On Demand, enabling viewers to engage with VICE NEWS TONIGHT content wherever and whenever they want.

From traditional field pieces and newsmaker interviews to a robust use of animations, graphics and data visualizations, VICE NEWS TONIGHT will experiment with a flexible and diverse approach to reporting the nightly news. Anchor-free, the show will abandon a set formula. Borrowing the best practices from the Emmy®-winning “VICE” on HBO and vicenews.com, it will regularly experiment with storytelling formats, tools, length and talent to deliver the most credible and impactful newscast possible.

The VICE News team reflects this reimagined approach to the nightly newscast. With members in bureaus across the globe — currently in Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong and Dubai — the newsroom unites a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, skillsets and areas of expertise to further foster experimentation and adaptability. VICE NEWS TONIGHT will report on the issues that matter most to VICE’s audience, focusing on U.S. politics and policy, civil rights and liberties, national security, education and economics, as well as technology, the environment and culture.

VICE NEWS TONIGHT joins VICE News’ current offerings, including the Emmy®-winning weekly news magazine show “VICE” on HBO and the award-winning news site vicenews.com.

VICE NEWS TONIGHT is executive produced by Shane Smith, Josh Tyrangiel and Madeleine Haeringer; supervising producers, Jonah Kaplan, Christina Vallice, Justin Dial and Jessica Weisberg.
