Things we’ve missed & what’s next

Hello again!

Many great things happened this year, from our largest update to Atmos to date in August, to an all-new design direction that’ll take us to new heights in 2023 and beyond. While we did have quite a few releases throughout 2022, we have realized that some didn’t arrive in time, and we’d like to go into some detail, and what caused these delays.

First, let’s address our promised feature update scheduled for December 2022, emergency sensitive content support. This change would have allowed sensitive content (“NSFW”) on the Atmos platform in a very controlled manner, as other popular platforms were undergoing extreme changes in leadership and direction. Unfortunately, we were unable to begin working on this change due to one of our dependencies being updated, which requires us to re-write parts of the Atmos platform in order to resolve new issues that it has caused. In addition, due to our limited amount of developers, this essentially consumes all of our available time and resources, and as a result, we were unable to meet the end-of-December deadline.

For the time being, we estimate that sensitive content will be allowed between April 2023 and September 2023. This may change at any time, and as always, we will let you know through future development updates.

Next, let’s address Horizon Max, the next-generation of our Horizon design language designed & built specifically for desktop devices. In late 2021, we mentioned that it was ready for release in 2022, however, we’re still working on it. Horizon Max brings an optimized, more immersive experience for desktop users, enabling larger, more readable text, all-new pop-up windows, and more. This delay was caused by us focusing on mobile development, as we also announced redesigned mobile interfaces at the same time as Horizon Max. This was fulfilled in the August quality update earlier this year, which made the Atmos platform even more accessible for mobile users with interfaces specifically optimized for mobile.

We do not have an estimated timeframe for when Horizon Max will be available, however, the latest design files for Atmos are nearly feature complete, including our mobile variant and the Horizon Max optimized desktop variant. Our developers use these design files to build updates for our Testmos platform, which is followed by extensive quality checks before being approved for release on the Atmos platform. When we have an updated timeframe for the release of Horizon Max, we’ll let you know.

Other than that, we have over 200+ changes waiting to be made to the Atmos platform, from bug-fixes, quality and interface improvements, to user feature requests. Over time, these changes will be completed and sent to either our Testmos platform for quality checks or directly to Atmos depending on the urgency and importance of the change.

As always, we hope you’ll continue checking in with us to see what we have to offer, because we’re always doing our best to change the world for everyone, everywhere, one line at a time!
