During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Senator Lindsey Graham staunchly defended former President Donald Trump and criticized the indictment he faces over his handling of government secrets. Graham argued that most conservatives see the case as politically motivated and predicted that Trump would gain strength for his reelection campaign. He compared Trump’s situation to Hillary Clinton’s investigations, claiming that she wasn’t held accountable while Trump was being “overcharged” under the Espionage Act.

When confronted with an alleged audio recording of Trump discussing classified information, Graham maintained that the charges against Trump were not comparable to those faced by individuals like Julian Assange or Edward Snowden. Graham also highlighted the differences between Trump’s retention of classified documents and Clinton’s use of a personal email server. Despite acknowledging concerns about Trump’s behavior, Graham affirmed his continued support for the former president, asserting that the law was being used as a political weapon against him.
