Waltham A17NG pilot watch prototypes reveal
Last week we have completed the A17NG case and buckle and received the dials and hands from our external suppliers.
After the dimensional checks of all components with our optical image dimension measurement machine vs. our technical drawings we have assembled the first two prototypes.
The size and case slimness are really perfect for a contemporary pilot watch, the legibility of the dial is outstanding, the Superluminova X1 extremely strong and the finishings are top grade. Very few detail adjustments will be implemented, including a tone adjustment for the strap, so the series production will start shortly, meaning that dispatch in January 2024 is on track.
Last, but not least, the watch is more than MIL-W-6433 compliant.
The successor of the 1951 A17, the first USAF pilot watch is back!
An important feature of the A17NG is its “engine”. It encases a Soprod M100 automatic 3hands movement which is just 3.60mm thick.
Slimness is the equivalent for engineering sophistication and value in mechanical movements.
The M100 of the A71NG is the R4 regulation version of the M100 which is its most precise execution with a middle rate of +4s/-4s per day.
Swiss made, self-winding and beating at 28’800 bhp/4Hz, the M100 has a 42h power reserve.
