BOLDR Supply Company is a brand based out of Singapore and they specialise in making tough and functional watches for everyday wear. One of their standout models — the BOLDR Venture should be on your radar if you’re looking for a field watch.

With a variety of dial colours to pick from: Carbon Black, Sand Storm (White), Navy Blue, Jungle Green, there’s probably one that fits your tastes. I’m partial to the Black and White dials and I think that the White dial has some really strong Hamilton Khaki vibes going on.

  • Case: 38 mm
  • Movement: Japan SII NH35A
  • Water Resistance: 200 m
  • Crystal: Sapphire with Anti-Reflective coating
  • Case Thickness: 12 mm
  • Lug size: 20 mm
  • Lug to lug: 44 mm

Coming in a svelte 38 mm case with a short lug to lug, I reckon the BOLDR Venture would be a joy to wear on smaller wrists. In addition, the titanium case makes this a very light watch and hypoallergenic, not to mention that it also does not conduct heat well to cause a hotspot on your wrist.

Lume on the BOLDR Venture

Legibility is top notch, with bold Arabic numerals on the dial and a smaller 24 hour track inside. These bold Arabic numerals and the small dots just outside of it are filled with lume, so legibility in the dark is great as well. The only caveat here is that the bold numerals on the White dial are not lumed, so orientation in the dark may not be as straightforward as you’re left with the small lume plots for orientation.

Beating inside is a Seiko movement, so you’ll get reliable performance and accessibility for maintenance. All variants of the Venture come on a matching NATO strap, so changing out the strap on your own will be a breeze and with the 20 mm lug width, you’ll have plenty of after-market options. Rounding it off, you have a Sapphire crystal over the dial for scratch protection.

As a Singaporean myself, I may be looking at BOLDR through rose-tinted lenses. But with the Venture coming in at $299 USD, I think it’s a fantastic value proposition for anyone with a smaller wrist looking for a field watch.
