27 years ago Schleswig-Holstein native Thomas Jensen and some friends from Wacken decided to organize their own hard rock and heavy metal festival. Wacken Open Air festival was born in 1990 with 800 fans attending. Fast forward to today, and it’s the biggest heavy metal festival in the world with over 80,000 attendees.
