GODFATHER OF HARLEM: New TV Series
After watching the first two episodes of Forest Whitaker portrayal of Bumpy Johnson in the new crime tv drama Godfather of Harlem, I’m hooked. The show is packed with amazing talent such as Nigel Thatch playing Malcolm X, Giancarlo Esposito as Adam Clayton Powell Jr., and Ilfenesh Hadera as Mayme Johnson to name a few. The theme music for the show is produced by Swizz Beatz, Rick Ross, and DMX so we already know it’s fire! Forest Whitaker is also one of the Executive Producers of the show which airs on EPIX Sundays 9pm.

My book pick for today is Harlem Godfather by Mayme Hatcher Johnson Karen E. Quinones Miller. Author Miller states her book was used as a reference throughout the film so I can’t wait to dive into this jewel of literary work.
