Does Anyone Else Get A Boner When They Say ‘I Love You’?
I still want to know if anyone else feels this type of way when they pop the ‘I love you’ words in the DMs
Love is a beautiful thing they say, no one ever tells you that love could be such a weird phenomenon. Whenever I say the word ‘I love you’, something sensual swoops me in, like the trailer of my favourite pornstar’s new release just dropped. The magical boner usually pops up whenever I’m in the DMs. I really don’t know what makes the DMs such a fertile land for boners but I do genuinely feel that it is the dopamine hit.
You see, when you send strong messages to someone on social media, there is a thrill of unexpectedness created. This jolt in your emotions as a result of not knowing what to expect causes a dopamine effect. Unlike in a face to face conversation where the actual mood of each person can be anticipated, social media and direct messaging shields each person from this awareness.
Novelty is also a complimentary ingredient to the intensity of the feeling. The first time you use certain words is most likely going to be the most emotional. You go in clueless not prepared in any way for the nature of feedback. Saying ‘I love you’ to your crush on the first conversation would be so exciting. Finally summoning the courage to text your crush and say how you feel creates this tension, that’s why you never stop checking for a reply.
My boner therefore is just a slave to these dopamine rushes, and it reacts how it should. If I knew the person I say ‘I love you’ to isn’t going to be forthcoming, the excitement would obviously be absent. But after having deep conversations with someone on social media, my naivety encourages me to try my luck and pop some silly questions just for the fun of it.
So I guess I’m not that weird at all, I just probably enjoy the ‘I love you’ dopamine quite much. I try to be as genuine as possible with the ‘magical words’ and use it to burn out some of the dopamine when it hits. The boner could be a signal, letting me know I’ve had a bit too much and I’ll need to drive home.
I still want to know if anyone else feels this type of way when they pop the ‘I love you’ words in the DMs?
