Isalo National park is a National park located in the Southern Madagascar within Bara tribe area in 215 km from Anja reserve. This park is well known for its ruin-form rock foundation in a vast rolling dry plains with exceptional biodiversity inside it.

The huge eroded sandstone in the Massif of Isalo is dating from the Jurassic and offers unique views from deep canyons to caves. The park has a unique ecosystem that elicits curiosity, it served as home of 82 species of birds, reptiles ( the snake Acrantophis dumerili), frogs as Malagasy rainbow frog. Different species of lemur are found inside this amazing park among them are ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta), Verreaux’s sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi), Red-fronted lemur (Eulemur rufifrons).

Endemic rock plants, including aloes, pachypodia and kalanchoes, grow on the bare granite. You find also monuments sculpted by nature such as the Window and the Queen that can be found right next to the National road 7, then the Boot, the Wolf that will complete the natural beauty of Isalo National park.

Isalo national park is also a cultural place as it is considered as sacred to the Bara tribe because for hundreds of years they have used caves in the canyon walls as burial sites.

Many trekking tour are available : the Maki Canyon, Rat Canyon and at the end of your expedition, you can end your discovery to the Natural swimming pool and waterfall that will delight you after such effort.
