When we started on wave.ac in July 2017, we had a vision. That vision has radically changed from its earliest developments, but the idea and values at its core have remained the same. We wanted to build a community of artists with a platform that emphasized inclusion and accessibility — one which would ultimately have a tangible and meaningful effect on artists.
However, our conduct runs contrary to what some internet services have referred to as their “business model” — a word they use to describe their excessive use of paywalls, advertisements, and the malpractice of “selling data” to third-parties. We are hellbent on providing value to creatives. So to support the continued development and upkeep of our community — for now into the foreseeable future — we need the help of our community.
So today, we’re rolling out our long-awaited premium plan: wave.ac pro.
wave.ac Pro is a plan for creatives — artists, podcasters, industry, DJs, and the like. At launch, it has four core features: audio file replacement, unlimited uploads, track & playlist themes, and Pro Sound. These represent the biggest post-launch update that we have ever done, so we’d like to acquaint you with the finer points of our new premium offering:
Track & Playlist Themes
With wave.ac Pro, you can add another layer of sauce to your track pages by setting banners and accents for your tracks. This is the feature we’re most excited about because it gives artists the ability to customize the aesthetic and feel of their tracks, albums, and playlists.
Pro Sound & Unlimited Upload Time
As part of wave.ac Pro, we’ll automatically double the quality of your audio streams from our free plan (128k) to Pro Sound (320k). This enhanced quality translates into making an already superior audio experience that much better. In addition, subscribing to wave.ac Pro will unlock the six hour “free quota.” So long as you remain subscribed, you will be able to upload up to five hours of audio a day and have that contain retained on wave.ac.
Audio File Replacement
If you’ve got stacks of work-in-progress songs, you might benefit from being able to replace older copies with newer ones. With wave.ac Pro, you’ll be able to replace audio files across all of your tracks to keep them up to date.

Well, wave.ac Pro is $9/mo or $90/yr if bought as an annual subscription. We’ve got an FAQ dedicated to Pro, so if you’ve got questions — which we’re sure you do — you can read some of the most asked questions here.
It goes without saying that the proceeds from wave.ac Pro will directly benefit the development of wave.ac for both non-paying and premium users. As we continue building wave.ac and its ecosystem, we will add additional features to the Pro plan, which will be added automatically at no additional cost.
