Usually quite last summer month turned out to be very eventful for Waves! On the development side, several major milestones on the road to smart contracts release were reached. In the meantime Waves Community continued to be incredibly active, supported by various new initiatives from the Waves Team. Here are the highlights from the past month!

Development

Client Team

Waves Client Team, led by Tatiana Ciguleva, released significant additions to the functionality and interface of the Waves Client:

Demonstration of the Ledger integration
Slick and fresh UI of the Waves iOS app!
  • Waves Keeper
A new project, called Waves Keeper, was kicked off. It is a browser extension that allows users to store their private keys safely and interact with third-party websites by signing transactions without disclosing their keys. More details on the forum.

  • Further bug fixes and numerous improvements
    - Search by AssetID in the portfolio added
    - Export of transactions summary fixed
    - Data transaction type added in the “Transactions” tab
    - Visual improvements and tweaks of the UI

Node Team

Waves Node Team made steady progress marching towards upcoming Smart Contracts release on the mainnet:

  • Testnet node releases
3 testnet releases (0.14.0, 0.14.1 and 0.14.2) were literally hammered out one after the other, enabling Smart Accounts functionality on the testnet!
  • New transactions version
Transactions v.2 (required for Smart Accounts) were introduced, allowing to store proofs instead of signatures.
  • Compatibility checks and script execution tests
In the scope of testnet node releases, compatibility checks with the current mainnet 0.13.4 version and load testing were successfully passed.
  • DEX Matcher updates
The Node Team continued to work on stability and performance improvements of the DEX matcher node. We are going to decouple and form a separate Matcher Node Team, so that we can develop and release the matcher updates independently and scale it horizontally.
  • Dev Blog
Progress on RIDE IDE, Data Services, Docker Container and lots of other awesome stuff was shared by Waves Product Manager Alexey Kofman in the August Development Update.
