The word apocalypse comes from Latin meaning “revelation” and from Greek meaning apokalyptein, to “uncover, disclose, reveal. It’s roots go from apo “off, away from” kalyptein “to cover, to conceal”.

Why am I saying this? Because you see, the world literally burning has been heavy on my soul and I find comfort in words.

This is a moment where things are being revealed to us, the inequalities of the world are exacerbated under crisis. People in Catalunya are being asked to evacuate their homes, extreme temperatures are soaring in Northern Europe and every time I take a swim I find plastic in the sea.

This is a moment of uncovering, a moment of reckoning with oneself and understanding how we want to move forward. Do we choose community? Do we choose to use our voice? Do we choose to see?

Whether we want it or not, the world will change, because it has to. We can choose to change with it or stay in the dark. Somehow, this is a moment where a light shines where it needs to, where we move away from blindness and begin to see clearly.

As we transition, hold on to gratitude, beauty, and joy. We’re gonna need them.
