New laws alone won't save us.

New laws alone won’t save us, female presidents alone won’t save us, and representation alone won’t save us. We need a radical shift.

As long as the decisions around our bodies and our lives are in the hands of people with a patriarchal Eurocentric perspective, we are not safe. We desperately need a shift in perspective, in knowledge one that centres the world and not a tiny portion of it.

We need imagination, joy, and rest to lead the way we do things. We need to heal internally, to decondition the layers.

What is happening in the United States with Roe vs Wade is proof that women are still not safe, that the culture is still one where these decisions are overturned, that our society is hierarchical and success is only measured through the demise of another.

Nothing will change until our core narrative changes, until the culture changes. There is a phrase in Spanish; “cambiar el chip”, to change the chip, change the motherboard. You use it when you need a change of mindset and the way you look at things in order to change something in your life. This is what our society needs.

I am so angry and disappointed. We all have so much deconditioning to do, and whilst laws and representation are important, they must not be tokenised. They must go hand in hand with a change within that is radical and embodied every day.

Here is some suggested reading to radicalise change.
