Community over competition is a core value at WAWOS Canada. We celebrate that with our WAWOS Wishes program.

This February 14th, our charitable organization is sending a valentine and a $1000 directed gift to five Canadian not-for-profits whose missions are focused on adaptive recreation programs.

Physical literacy is an important component of every child’s development. It helps kids build the skills, confidence and love of movement for a young person to be physically active for life.

At WAWOS Canada, we believe that exploring the world drives curiosity and sparks joy in a child. Encouraging children with CP and related developmental delays to try new adventures and move their bodies in a fun and engaging way can grow skills, build relationships and foster inclusion.

“My daughter has been skiing since she was 5 years old because there are organizations providing adaptive equipment and sports activities for kids with neuromuscular delays,” recalls WAWOS Canada Founder, Jacquie Robison.

“There are so many not-for-profits working hard to make recreational experiences a reality to extra needs children — and some of them are working on a shoestring budget. We created WAWOS Wishes to support these charities so more families can have greater access to these experiences.”

We’re thrilled to announce the first five WAWOS Wishes recipients in Canada and spread some love in our community.

  1. Halifax Dance in Nova Scotia
  2. Rocky Mountain Adaptive in Alberta
  3. Adaptive Sports Sunpeaks in British Columbia
  4. Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association in Ontario
  5. Para New Brunswick in New Brunswick

Happy Valentine’s Day, from our heart to yours.
