All 21 WAX Guilds recommended by the Inspector General are now producing blocks on the WAX Blockchain
The WAX Blockchain reached a major milestone today by fully decentralizing block production. The top 21 WAX Guilds as determined by the independent Office of the Inspector General, per its WAX Guild Ratings Report, are now all producing blocks on the WAX Blockchain.
You’ll notice that WAX is no longer a WAX Guild since we did not submit our candidacy. However, we will be operating standby guilds.
Scoring Guilds via an Inspector General Rating System — A First for DPoS Blockchains
This is a historic moment for DPoS blockchains: a comprehensive, standardized evaluation of block producer candidates issued by an independent third-party has led to the highest quality WAX Guilds performing one of the blockchain’s most critical functions. The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) brings fairness and transparency to the voting process, and ensures that candidates become block producers based on merit and value they add to the blockchain’s ecosystem.
About the first WAX Guild Ratings Report
The OIG plans to target the 15th of each month as a cut-off date for the next round of ratings, according to their first report.
The report provides a detailed drilldown for each of the WAX Guild candidates, including their Score Sheet grades and detailed candidacy information. For example, here is the full report on EOS Nation. Click on each WAX Guilds name in the report to access the drilldown.
About the Office of the Inspector General
The OIG was officially announced last month as a neutral third-party role designed to evaluate WAX Guild Candidates’ contribution to the ecosystem and provide ongoing transparency for the community. The OIG is a committee with three members who standardize WAX Guild evaluations, and properly recognize those WAX Guilds making valuable contributions to the WAX ecosystem.
Each OIG’s tenure is nine months — three months in each position starting from May 1, 2020. There will be a first standby OIG and second standby OIG. The first standby OIG will take over from the OIG chair once their tenure has ended. After the OIG chair’s tenure has concluded, the first standby will take over unless unavailable, in which case the second standby will take over. The second standby will take over the first standby responsibility after the first standby rotates to the chair role. New standbys will be voted on once the existing standbys have filled the OIG chair position, as the OIG chair finishes their nine month tenure to free up a standby position.
