FCFL x WAX: Powering A New Era of Celebrity Collectibles
WAX and the Fan Controlled Football League have partnered up ahead of their first season launch in 2019. FCFL is the first league to let the fans call the shots, like real-life Madden.
The inaugural eight teams are owned by Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Bobby Jones, Kinda Funny, Prince Royce, and two other owners yet to be announced that we’re excited to share with you.
Fans will watch FCFL games on Twitch, where they’ll be broadcasted live. “FCFL has an exclusive, multi-year streaming broadcast agreement with Twitch, a live streaming video platform owned by a subsidiary of Amazon. Twitch will co-market the FCFL to its user base of over 120+ million monthly viewers. Using a custom Twitch Extension, the FCFL and Twitch have developed an interactive overlay for desktop and mobile, allowing fans to call the plays natively on top of the Twitch video player. The FCFL is the first professional sports league built on top of the Twitch platform,” said FCFL in a press release about the addition of Joe Montana as its Chief Strategic Officer.
WAX and FCFL are pushing the envelope for what’s possible with merchandise through the virtualization of each piece of FCFL merch. Buyers will receive their FCFL merchandise virtually in the form of vIRL, the dApp that virtualizes physical items, and can also redeem the vIRL for the physical version whenever they want and have it shipped to their address. As with all vIRLs, owners can trade, sell, or gift FCFL merchandise on the WAX Blockchain.
