Guidelines to Finding a Wayfinder Star
★Wayfinder Star? Stars that give directions in the dark night, polar stars, etc.
Finding Wayfinder Star is a career exploration program for youth looking for new ways in the world. We will visit Denmark’s KaosPilots(3-year professional social entrepreneurship school), Danish Folk Highschool, and Sweden’s YIP (International Youth Initiative Program) as well as designing our own learning journey with The Open Master’s throughout the whole 3-week trip.
[Finding Wayfinder Star] is a journey to find your own wayfinder star amidst your wander, and a process to find the next steps that can lead you there. We hope to meet you in the Sweden forests where the dwarfs and fairies live, in the communities of Denmark where nature and people coexist, and in a peaceful society of North Europe where people are the first to be respected.

The Story of our Journey on ‘Finding Wayfinder Star’
⛦ Program
Why did we plan this trip?
One day, Hyosun, who was traveling Europe after graduating from YIP in Sweden was talking to Woong on the phone, who just finished three years of teaching at Gandhi School in the Philippines.
During the ten months Hyosun spent in Sweden YIP, she realized that the amount of information she gathered in YIP was different from what she knew in Korea, and thought it would’ve been better if she knew what kind of atmosphere it was before coming to Sweden. She started to believe that it would be meaningful if she can help more people to come to Europe and share this experience together.
After seeing students graduate from alternative schools wanting to expand their horizons beyond Korea, but didn’t know where and how to start, Woong started focusing on this problem. She believed that the most important thing is not about where you are headed, but to find out how you want to live. She was wondering on ways she could solve this process together.
Saem graduated from an alternative school and decided to work first to find out what she was interested in and what he wanted to do before deciding whether to go to college. She has been working in international exchange and the social economy sector for three years and was able to meet various people and activities, learn the dynamics and the rapid change in it. She was wanting to find new possibilities and opportunities for the next step of her life while learning and sharing with others.
In that process, we were able to meet the ‘Open Masters’ which enables people to design their own learning journey. After many imaginations and ideas on creating an opportunity that can experience the ‘Open Master’s process while visiting various alternative education fields in Northern Europe, as well as developing our international senses, our Journey to Finding our Wayfinderstar was born.
⛦ What do we hope to achieve in this trip?
This project which first started after realizing how important it is to meet with the world, the different things we can learn through the twists and turns in the journey of finding a new learning, is largely divided into a ‘Learning Design Program’ and ‘Interacting with Youths wanting to change the world.’
While traveling together, we hope you can find your own ‘wayfinder star’, discover how you truly want to live, and while visiting the alternative education in Sweden and Denmark you will be able to create new possibilities for the next step ahead. We believe that this trip can the start of a new journey for everyone involved.
