A Warm Waze Welcome for the Google Assistant
Simply say “Hey Google” when using Waze to get more done while keeping your hands on the wheel.
Driving can be unpredictable. One day, you’re cruising along to work carefree, the next, you’re late for a meeting, and need to let a few people know you’ve been held up.
Waze and the Google Assistant recently began rolling out some of the Assistant’s most helpful commands for drivers navigating with Waze. Today, we’re excited to announce that all English-speaking Android users in the U.S. can access the Assistant just by saying, “Hey Google” with the Waze app open.
Now, you can do things like report a pothole, make a calendar appointment, play music, call your mom, or find a coffee shop nearby. All without leaving your Waze navigation screen — and while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
No matter where you’re going, the Assistant and Waze will help you have a safe, productive, connected, and informed driving experience, using only your voice.
We can’t wait to bring it to more users in the future!
How to get started
Open Waze, and the Google Assistant will automatically pop up if it’s available for your phone. If you don’t see it, tap the mic or go to the Google Assistant settings in Voice & Sound.
Once you see the window, tap “Enable now” to start using the Assistant in Waze.
