WAZIHUB held its third plenary meeting in Kenya

In July, the Wazihub partners met in Nairobi, Kenya for the project’s plenary meeting. It was 3 days of intense discussion and brainstorming hosted by the Kenyan partner, @ilabAfrica, the Centre of Excellence in ICT innovation and Development based at Strathmore University. The fourteen partners sent their project lead, to be part of the meeting.

Day 1:

Session 1: Project management and administrative: Dr. Ing. Abdur Rahim, the project coordinator opened the plenary meeting with the welcoming remarks. He gave the status and the milestones of the project at month 14. He presented the new project management team (for more efficiency) and the project’s amendment.

Session 2 — Reporting from Innovation Partners: Following the coordinator’s session, partners presented their activities conducted so far, their achievements and their drawbacks. An emphasis was on how to raise the participation of women to the different stages of the WAZIHUB program.

Session 3- Tech-community: After the lunch break, Fiifi Baidoo, Innovation manager of the project presented the Tech Community we want to launch with the WAZIHUB Nodes. The KPIs to be achieved, the responsibility of the partners and the call for application for the WAZIHUB Nodes were also presented leading to an intense discussion. The launch of WAZIHUB Nodes is to achieve the objective of expanding to 11 more countries before the end of the project.

Day 2:

Session 4 - Planning and management of Tech-community: On this 2nd day of meeting emphasis was on the building the WAZIHUB Tech Community. Discussion were on the management of tech-community, the partners responsibility, the websites and the online tools.

A presentation was also made on the project communication guidelines.

Day 3: The last day of the meeting had a focus on the technology.

Session 5: IoT Rapid prototyping tools: Presentations were made on the update on LoRa; the update on WaziDev, the update on WaziGate , the updated WaziCloud, the Management and coordination. Updated hardwares have been distributed to partners.

Session 6 -Smart Village: One axe of the project is to develop a Smart Village living lab in Saint-Louis, Senegal. The model was presented by the partners in charge with the different milestones.

The 3 days meeting ended with the presentation of the new cloud platform to startups under the WAZIHUB program at @ilabAfrica.
