Building our vision

We’re proud to launch our new internship programme, bringing in ambitious learners to share our knowledge, experience and ways of working with a wider community.

Designed to pass the knowledge baton, the internship programme will ensure our community is well-equipped to make impactful change in the 21st century. Showcasing our ways of working and the lessons we’ve learned, we’ll support individuals to gain experience in service design and public sector change while developing our internal skill base by bringing new insights and perspectives into the way we do our work.

The launch of this programme marks another big step forward for FutureGov, ensuring continuous innovation in our practice. Engaging with a growing and diverse community, we can help our sector continue to deliver innovative outcomes, sustainability by growing a diverse workforce and compelling narratives for change.

“The intern programme for service designers is our first step towards a much wider programme focused on providing internships, apprenticeships and work experience across FutureGov. Designed to promote social mobility and enable access for all, we aim to nurture future talent through dedicated mentoring and learning, helping others raise their skills and aspirations.” — Rob Watts, People Director

Starting with service design, the aim of the internship programme is to learn and iterate on our approach, with the scope to scale across the business. We’re also soon to launch an apprenticeship programme — watch this space!

Calling all service designer enthusiasts

We’re kicking off the programme by looking for ambitious service designers who want to work in a supportive design team. With guidance from a dedicated mentor, interns will have the opportunity to work with a range of clients from the public and health sector while learning to navigate the complexity of public services in the UK.

As a service design intern, you’ll gain unique insight into all areas of design in FutureGov including service design, design research and product operations. You’ll have the opportunity to see service design principles in action on live and developing projects and actively contribute towards real outcomes for local communities.

“I’ve seen so much great talent come through internships. I’m really excited to provide an inspiring and supportive programme that will be incredibly valuable for design graduates, students and our own design team.” — Mary Cook, Design Director

We’ll also support you to gain an understanding of business development and delivery. For the right candidate, this is a huge opportunity to gain a greater understanding of projects, catapult your service design knowledge and gain experience working in an exciting, fast-paced studio.

You can apply now for our service design internship on the website.
