FutureGov Founder and MD Dominic Campbell is coming over to visit from our London office and will be kicking off his week here keynoting at Macquarie University’s Global Leadership Program Innovative Leaders Series. He’s also going to be sitting on the panel for a pitch competition run by Young Change as part of their social entrepreneurship program in design thinking. Good luck pitchers!

NSW Smart Cities & Accessibility Innovation Challenge Demo Day, 28th September

Demo day for our Lend a Hand service is quickly approaching! We’ve been going the the paces with an incubator through the Department of Finance Services & Innovation and Transport for NSW over the past 10 weeks to design a service and product aiming to make public transport more accessible for people with disabilities. We’ll be pitching our service and revealing our work at Demo Day. Tickets for this one are pretty much gone but get in touch with me if you are interested in finding out more and follow the Demo Day action on Twitter @futuregov @innovationNSW.

Open State South Australia, 3rd October

Open State SA is coming to Adelaide and the FutureGov team will be there hosting our Designing public services for the digital age workshop as part of the Future Democracy stream. We’ll be building a business case for digital and design to be at the heart of public service transformation and walking through our human centred design process through a hands-on session. We’ll also be facilitating a mini-workshop for our good friend Martin Stewart-Weeks during his session on the role and influence of design in mainstream policy making. Both are set to be fun and interactive sessions, so if you’ll be in Adelaide register to save your spot — we’d love to see you there!

Casserole Club launch in Heathcote Victoria, 23rd October

We’re really excited to be launching Casserole Club in Heathcote Victoria! Bendigo City Council have teamed up with Heathcote Health and Heathcote Community House to tackle social isolation in older residents through Casserole Club — where volunteers share extra portions of home-cooked food with people in their area who aren’t always able to cook for themselves.

MyPatchwork Victoria Workshops, September & October

We’ve been working with the Municipal Association of Victoria to pilot MyPatchwork. FutureGover Calvin Chong will be out in Wodonga and Hume with the MAV team running information sessions and talking to service providers and families about how MyPatchwork will help families and individuals see and get in touch with the network of different people working with them.

Sydney summer event to come!

Before the year is out we’ll be holding an event in Sydney. We want to bring together some of the great people and organisations we’ve worked with over the past year to share and connect — stay tuned!
