We’re excited to share that HoneyBook has been featured on the Fortune Best Workplaces for Millennials 2023 list! This is our first time receiving the honor, and earning a place means that we’ve surpassed rigorous benchmarks, establishing ourselves as one of the best companies to work for in the country.

Millennials make up the largest share of the workplace today, and their experience says a lot about an organization. When evaluating the responses of the nearly 500,000 employees surveyed across companies of all sizes and industries in order for Fortune to determine their rankings, what stood out to them was the following: millennials seek meaningful work, authentic leadership, and a healthy work environment. We’d like to think that HoneyBook offers that in spades.

For one, there’s considerable meaning to be found in working at an organization that enables independent business owners to spend more time doing what they love, and less time running their businesses. After all, 99.9% of businesses across the US are small businesses, and over 80% of those small businesses have no employees (1). Those are the very businesses we’ve made it our mission and purpose to support. They’re the backbone of the economy, and when you work at HoneyBook, you have the opportunity to make a very real impact on very real people. They’re not just another business, we’ve come to know many of them personally and feel privileged to share in their dreams. How does one not find meaning in that?

Of course the company you work for and the mission we’re all working in service of is just two pieces of the puzzle. It’s critical to our ongoing success that HoneyBookers also find meaning in the actual work they’re doing day in and day out. That means checking in with our employees regularly and having some very real conversations around how they feel about their work. Is it challenging? Is it fulfilling? Is it in line with their longer term objectives? It also means providing ongoing learning and development opportunities, as well as mentorship opportunities, both internally and externally. It’s not uncommon to see employees who’ve been at HoneyBook for years pivot internally into different careers. When your aspirations as a professional evolve, and we can find a space for you within HoneyBook to allow for that growth, we all win.

As for the leadership at HoneyBook, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more authentic, and genuinely caring collection of people leaders in tech. For one, they’re approachable. They take the time to get to know you at company events. They sit next to you at lunch. There isn’t an ounce of ego coming off of them, and that’s pretty refreshing. Second, they’re available. Whether in-person, via Slack, or the occasional Q&A session, they make answering questions from HoneyBookers at all levels of the organization a priority, even the tough questions.

What else can we say? They’re open to hearing different perspectives. They encourage you to learn, to grow through failure, and to test assumptions. They think constantly about our values when shaping our company roadmap and making the decisions that will have ramifications today, tomorrow, and ten years from now. While Glassdoor can only tell us that over 90% of HoneyBook employees surveyed approve of our CEO, Oz Alon, we suspect that if surveyed regarding the leadership team as a whole, that number would be pretty high up there.

Finally, there’s the matter of providing a healthy work environment. Whether through health & wellness budgets, flexibility around where and how we work, subscriptions to meditation apps, guided yoga classes, and more, our People Team works constantly toward providing an environment that promotes wellbeing and a healthy work/life blend.

Of course there’s more to a healthy work environment than that. It’s equally important to cultivate a work culture that supports and empowers all employees, and that fosters an environment where employees can show up as their authentic selves each and every day. You see this manifested in our respect of people’s pronouns, in our commitment to celebrating diversity, and in how we hold space for each other in meetings, to name a few.

When you make people and their wellbeing a priority, great things happen. We’re proud to be recognized in this way as it validates our ongoing commitment to our values, including loving what we do, keeping it real, and putting people first. We’re excited to continue accelerating our growth, and are dedicated to nurturing a company culture worth celebrating. Want to join us on this journey? Check out our open roles.

Congratulations also to all the companies recognized!

To determine the Fortune Best Workplaces for Millennials™ List, Great Place To Work collected nearly 500,000 responses from millennials at companies eligible for the list. To be considered, companies had to be Great Place To Work Certified™ and have at least 50 millennial employees in the U.S. Honorees were selected based on their ability to offer positive outcomes for employees regardless of job role, race, gender, sexual orientation, work status, or other demographic identifier.
