Lia Crumpton, Member Experience Associate at HoneyBook

Welcome to another round of Passion at HoneyBook! We’re pretty lucky to have so many amazing folks to highlight. While we’re building the tools to power independents, our team is busy being independents themselves.

We’re excited to highlight our very own Lia Crumpton who is a HoneyBooker by day, music photographer by night. Check out her work and learn more about her below!

What do you do at HoneyBook?

I’m a Member Experience Associate.

How long have you been at HoneyBook?

Almost 1.5 years!

How did you get started with your passion?

I drove to Portland for a Lauv and Jeremy Zucker show by myself and brought a small $200 digital camera. At the end, I was able to meet Jeremy and he gave me his email to send him the photos and posted it the next day. This sparked my interest in concert photography and now I’ve been able to capture photos at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and EDC, etc.

What’s your next goal with your passion?

I really want to shoot an international music festival — I’d also love to learn videography.

If you could give someone with the same passion a piece of advice, what would it be?

When I first started nobody helped me, so I had to learn on my own. I would say, really network and put yourself out there, be kind and humble — there’s always someone more talented. It doesn’t happen overnight so stay dedicated to your craft. I’ve been told “no” so many times but that one “yes” can go so far. Definitely learn your camera settings, my first festival I shot completely on auto and had no idea what I was doing. Be professional but have fun — don’t take it for granted because the music industry moves so fast so you never know if this is your last gig or not. Make connections with other creatives, they are your biggest hype people and can teach you so much.

Does your passion help you in your role at HoneyBook?

Yes, because I’m able to relate to the struggle of being a small business owner and also I get so inspired seeing so many creatives. I love seeing members websites, their work and their style. There are so many talented individuals in so many different photography industries.

And lastly, what do you love most about working at HoneyBook?

I love my team the most, everyone is very genuine and wants the best for each other and our members. It was amazing to finally meet everyone in San Francisco and connect!

Want to see more of Lia’s work? We think you should check it out here. Until next time!
