OCA’s Carla Rees, Programme Leader for Music has had a busy summer.

She performed at festivals in Costa Rica, America and Japan, in both solo and ensemble concerts.

My piccolo piece, Nightsong was also performed in Costa Rica by Austrian piccolo virtuoso Milica Milojevic-Bogdanovic, and a number of my arrangements were also performed.

My ensemble, rarescale, performed the premiere of Michael Oliva’s new work, Passacglia, for low flutes, bass clarinet and electronics in London on 16 July. I also performed the concert premiere of Michael Cryne’s In Cloud Light for alto flute and electronics

Coming up this Autumn: Oct 14 2017 — New Baroque, Iklectik, London — this is the first concert in a series that showcases new works for baroque flute. The works are being written in a series of collaborations with composers from all over the world, and will be presented alongside works from the baroque era.

There will also be a concert of new works for alto flute and baroque flute in Athens, Greece on 8 November. The concert will include premieres of 4 new works by Greek composers.

And two concerts, in Belgium and Paris, as part of the International Flute Quartet. We will be performing works by Gubaidulina and Mozart, and leading workshops for young flute players.
