CieAR Inc., publisher and producer of City of Ghosts, an interactive augmented reality cinematographic experience, announced that it is among the 14 innovative interactive digital media projects that will receive funding from the Experimental Stream Funding Program — Production for the year 2016–2017. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced that 14 innovative interactive digital media projects have received funding totaling $10.3 million under the first production cycle of the Experimental Stream for the year 2016–2017. This program promotes the creation of digital content and interactive application software for digital platforms. Different types of interactive digital media content will be offered to consumers, consisting of nine games, three application software programs and two platforms using virtual reality. By including this funding cycle, the CMF has already contributed more than $ 154.3 million to 268 projects in production financing since the creation of the Experimental Stream in 2010. Production support is used to fund the creation of a final and marketable version of an eligible project, as well as initial marketing or marketing activities.
