That is one creep-ass movie.
Here are the flash-fiction notes:
Brash human cohort harboring a certifiably evil X-man villain-type prisoner as embodied by Vin Diesel, are transporting said prisoner to prison. They find themselves marooned on a desert planet purely due to bad luck. Their prisoner escapes.
They find this planet’s sun is a fucking brutalizer of truly deity-level proportions.
No other life appears on their sensors. The planet is a hot, barren hellscape.
Then, they discover evidence other humans have been marooned on this planet. Unfortunately, they also discover they have crash-landed at a similar perilous moment in the planet’s relationship to its Killer Sun.
To be exact, the new maroonees discover the Sun will disappear very shortly and the sky will be pitch black soon. The rejoicing resulting from this news is short-lived, because further evidence reveals the existence of an implacable, hungry, race who lives in caves beneath the planet’s surface, presumably to…
