Welcome back for this special #SundayFunday edition of #WLTB! Many apologies for our little hiatus — if I’m just being honest, it’s 100% my fault. Between multiple freelance jobs, homecoming weekend, and throwing out my back on one of those freelance jobs, well… it’s been a rough two weeks for me. BUT HAVE NO FEAR! Curl up on the couch, turn on some football (or the Netflix reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and crack open a tall boy!

Beer Name: Blue Moon Belgian White
City and Country of Origin: Golden, CO
Year Created: 1995
ABV: 5.4%
Cost: $5.49 for a 4-pack of tall boys (#BallinOnABudget)

Taste: Drinking Blue Moon brings me back to my early college days. Blue Moon was one of the first beers I routinely ordered a Faegan’s, our local campus bar, when I didn’t know what to order or was too scared to order something more adventurous. The first sip of Blue Moon produced a good mix of citrus as well as the classic wheat taste that comes along with wheat beers. I don’t find Blue Moon super carbonated which is great because if you order one on a date, you don’t run the risk of burping in your date’s face for the duration of your pint (or tall boy).

I asked my husband Keller what he thought of the taste of Blue Moon. His reply — “I like it.”

Very thorough analysis.

How Do I Feel? I feel like I’m back in college, honestly, which is appropriate because I was drinking this beer during Homecoming Weekend at Syracuse. It was kind of the perfect way to finish off the weekend — a cheap beer in hand, prepping to go to a young alumni meet-up. Needless to say, I feel good. Blue Moon is fairly light, all things considered, so you can probably throw back one or two of these without feeling too terrible. I personally wouldn’t have too many Blue Moons only because after a while, they taste a little too sweet for me. What can I say? I’m an IPA girl for life.

When To Drink Blue Moon Belgian White: Blue Moon is one of those beers that you can really drink any time, but I find that I loved to drink Blue Moon in the summertime and in the early fall. If you’re ordering Blue Moon at a restaurant or bar, your drink even comes garnished with an orange peel which really puts you in the summertime/fall mood. It’s also one of those beers that I found at football tailgates pretty often since it’s not expensive at all.

Overall Rating: 7/10 While I don’t drink Blue Moon all that often, it’s a tastier cheap beer alternative that you can find at almost all bars or restaurants. Whether you’re with buds watching a football game, or just enjoying a warm summer afternoon on your back porch, Blue Moon is a flavorful alternative to throwing back cans of Natty Lite or PBR.
