LIVE OAK GOLD
Summer’s here y’all! I just got a promotion at work so I’m all locked down with a 9–5 job. You know what that means: I’M LIVIN’ FOR THE WEEKEND!
As soon as Thursday hits, the afternoon turns into a hardcore chillfest. I send out a “roll thru” text to all my homies to meet at my apartment complex’s pool and to bring beer.
This week we had some tasty brews from Live Oak at the poolside. My buddy Kea and I gave our two cents about the Live Oak Gold, a German-style pilsner, while we enjoyed a 6-pack on a lovely Friday afternoon.
Beer name: Live Oak Gold
Brewery, city, and country of origin: Live Oak Brewing Company, Austin, TX, USA
Year created: IDK when Gold was created, but the brewery opened in 1997
ABV: 4.8% ABV
Cost: $8.99 for a six-pack
Taste: I love myself a good Live Oak beer. It’s a local brewery that hasn’t created a beer I don’t like. The Gold is a malty flavored-beer that’s light on the tongue and doesn’t linger in the mouth. It isn’t intense which makes it poundable (more on that later), but it has a full flavor without a full body. Kea said she would drink it with an orange slice.
How do I feel? It’s the freakin’ weekend! It’s about 91 degrees outside and this beer is ICE COLD. Whether you’re by the poolside or having lunch and conversation, Live Oak Gold is a great pick. Ultimately, I feel relaxed and I think it’s because this beer is so darn good.
Poundability: I think this beer is pretty poundable cuz it feels light. I’d rate it 8/10. However I also feel like I’m sweating out every liquid in my body right now so I’m kinda thirsty. Kea said that it makes her burp so her poundability factor score is 6.5/10.
When to drink Live Oak Gold: I love Live Oak Gold! I think it’s going to be my go-to Live Oak flavor. Definitely drink a Gold on a nice, sunny day, or when you’re hanging out with good friends. If you’re looking for a malty, light beer, look no further! This is a golden pick.
Overall rating: 8/10.
